This was the first chilli paste I made with my mum's recipe to counter my homesickness whilst I was a student at Sheffield University. In my family, we call this sambal belacan manis. Extremely loved by the signature figure of the family, my dad (who sometimes is a bit fishy).

Onion, rapeseed oil, sugar, garlic, chilli (2%), spices, vinegar, ginger, tomato, lemongrass, salt, water, shrimp paste (crustaceans), vegetable bouillon, fish sauce, tamarind, lemon juice.
